Prime Gradient is a private company providing hands-on training and support for teachers at all stages of their career. We specialise in supporting Science, Computing, Computer Science and EdTech. We have a small team working across the Midlands region delivering face-to-face and online training to specialists and non-specialists alike. We cover all Key Stages from Key Stage 1 to Key Stage 5.
About our policy
Prime Gradient is committed to protecting your personal information and being transparent about the information we hold. The purpose of this privacy policy is to clearly set out how we collect, use and store your personal information (any information that identifies or could identify you). We collect information that allows us to communicate effectively with you and provide you with the best possible experience through our website and communication.
When and how do we collect your personal data?
We collect your information when you give it to us directly or indirectly.
DIRECTLY: You may give us your personal information when you interact with us before, during or after a session you attend or when you communicate directly with a member of the Prime Gradient Team.
WordPress: We host our website on WordPress. You can browse our website without revealing any personal information. If you decide to contact us via the “Contact us” facility on the website then we will collect personal data.
INDIRECTLY: If you have given permission to third parties to give us your data, we will sometimes receive information about you from them. Social media sites can also share your data with third parties, including us, depending on the settings you have chosen on those sites.
We want to make sure that we tailor our communications to you. To do this we may sometimes use information about your resources, positions of responsibility in the public, private and third sector, location, charitable interests, personal interests and any other relevant information to help us tailor our communications. We collect information we can find on publicly available and free sources for this purpose.
What information do we collect?
We gather data to ensure our communications are appropriate and tailored to you and your specific role or interest. We ensure the data we collect is adequate, relevant and limited to what is necessary for its purpose.
When you interact with us either in person, online or at an event, we may collect any of the following:

- phone number
- workplace name and address
- contact preferences
How do we use your information?
We will use your data to:
- Deal with your enquiries or requests
- Keep a record of any interaction with us
- Undertake administrative purposes
- Provide updates on our work
- Analyse and improve our website , services, products or information
- Help us to investigate and complaints
- Inform you about our events or events that we believe may be of interest to you
Who has access to your data?
Your personal information may be accessed by Prime Gradient staff, and volunteers, as required. All staff, freelance trainers, and volunteers undertake annual meaningful and mandatory data protection training refresh to ensure they are up to date with the data protection legislation. Access is regularly reviewed, and all partners will only act under our instruction, within a contractual relationship and not use data for their own purposes.
In certain rare situations, it may be necessary for us to share your personal data with a third party so they can give us advice or services. In such circumstances, we always make sure that we have a robust legal agreement in place with our third-party suppliers, which obliges them to only use your information on our instructions and in accordance with the law. We will never sell your data to third parties or another organisation.
We will only disclose your personal information without your consent when it is required for us to do so by law, such as to authorised agencies or government authorities. We would need to share what you tell us with someone if:

Comments
When visitors leave comments on the site we collect the data shown in the comments form, and also the visitor’s IP address and browser user agent string to help spam detection.
An anonymized string created from your email address (also called a hash) may be provided to the Gravatar service to see if you are using it. The Gravatar service privacy policy is available here: https://automattic.com/privacy/. After approval of your comment, your profile picture is visible to the public in the context of your comment.
Media
If you upload images to the website, you should avoid uploading images with embedded location data (EXIF GPS) included. Visitors to the website can download and extract any location data from images on the website.
Cookies
If you leave a comment on our site you may opt-in to saving your name, email address and website in cookies. These are for your convenience so that you do not have to fill in your details again when you leave another comment. These cookies will last for one year.
If you visit our login page, we will set a temporary cookie to determine if your browser accepts cookies. This cookie contains no personal data and is discarded when you close your browser.
When you log in, we will also set up several cookies to save your login information and your screen display choices. Login cookies last for two days, and screen options cookies last for a year. If you select “Remember Me”, your login will persist for two weeks. If you log out of your account, the login cookies will be removed.
If you edit or publish an article, an additional cookie will be saved in your browser. This cookie includes no personal data and simply indicates the post ID of the article you just edited. It expires after 1 day.
Embedded content from other websites
Articles on this site may include embedded content (e.g. videos, images, articles, etc.). Embedded content from other websites behaves in the exact same way as if the visitor has visited the other website.
These websites may collect data about you, use cookies, embed additional third-party tracking, and monitor your interaction with that embedded content, including tracking your interaction with the embedded content if you have an account and are logged in to that website.
Who we share your data with
If you request a password reset, your IP address will be included in the reset email.
How long we retain your data
If you leave a comment, the comment and its metadata are retained indefinitely. This is so we can recognize and approve any follow-up comments automatically instead of holding them in a moderation queue.
For users that register on our website (if any), we also store the personal information they provide in their user profile. All users can see, edit, or delete their personal information at any time (except they cannot change their username). Website administrators can also see and edit that information.
What rights you have over your data
If you have an account on this site, or have left comments, you can request to receive an exported file of the personal data we hold about you, including any data you have provided to us. You can also request that we erase any personal data we hold about you. This does not include any data we are obliged to keep for administrative, legal, or security purposes.
